Hot springs abound in this region between the Dawna Range to the west and the more easterly Lower Shan Highland (which, further north in Myanamar, link to the foothills of the Himalayas).
The Mueng Pang Hot Sprngs are just off a narrow, winding, steeply undulating road between the less-travelled Route 1265 and Ban Don Tan in Mae Hong Son Province and are a worthwhile, free visit. While this road to the hot springs may not necessarily be life threatening (because of the slow speed required to negotiate it), the blind corners on a carriageway that is less than two vehicles wide do induce concern/stress. But – if you want to go to the hot springs, suck it up.
