Zanthus

The Zanthus Siding on the Trans Australian Railway is 265 kilometres east of Kalgoorlie.

A bit of literary licence was used for this name – it is derived from the Latin genus name for the Kangaroo Paw (Anigozanthus/Anigosanthus), the floral emblem of Western Australia.

Along with all sidings of the Trans Line, Zanthus was named in 1917 when the railway was built.
