Deeside Coast Road

The Deeside Coast Road leaves Muir Highway at, not unexpectedly, Deeside and extends 54 kilometres south to Chesapeake Road.

It is a good, reasonably high speed dirt road without surprises for the attentive driver.

Deeside Coast Road showcases extensive stands of the magnificent karri tree.

These tall, majestic behemoths (E. diversicolor) extend for many kilometres. The drive through them imparts a feeling of awe, of privilege, a sense of wonderment. Why don’t more people know about this?

The 61 metre high Beard Fire Lookout is worth stopping at. It is the tallest all steel fire lookout tower in the world although it is now no longer in use. The Lookout is listed as an historic site (HSD273).
