Winning and setting the race record for the Edward River Boat Race two weeks before the start of the expedition was great publicity for the Murray River Expedition.

During the Expedition members also took out the first three places in the 8 hp class of the Albury to Howlong Murray River Run, came first and second in the 8 hp sports class, and fourth and fifth in the 10 hp class (using 7.5 hp motors).
