Surveyor N.M Brazier (1866-1947) recorded Morlining Rock as Norlining and then Morling during his major survey of the area in 1892. The compromise name Morlining Rocks was adopted in 1978.

The Morlining Well served the Kellandi Siding on the Kalgoorlie line . The line and siding are now non existent.

The well is located -31.26066, 119.78523.
