Cape Le Grand

Cape Le Grand and the associated 30,000+ hectare National Park (formed in 1966) were named after Ensign Le Grand of the frigate Esperance who, in November 1792, sighted Esperance Bay allowing Admiral Bruny D’Entrecasteaux’s ships Recherche and Esperance to shelter from a storm.
