Khao Kho | Adventures

We travelled to Khao Kho in Petchabun for a long weekend glamping and touring in mid-November 2023.

Glamping at Papas Gardens

: Breakfast view.

The ever-present sewer stench took the edge off what would otherwise have been a pleasant stay. The campfire area is excellent. The views across the valley are great.

: Kho Kho Viewpoint

The roadside markets opposite this viewpoint are always worth a visit. Good variety of items for sale, well patronised and easy access (just double park like anywhere else in Thailand).

Khao Kho Windfarm

: The windfarm comprises 24 turbines, located at an elevation of 1050m.

: These 60m long propellers power turbines that provide electricity to 36,000 households in northern Thailand..

Access to the upper part of the windfarm has been restricted (locals only). Goodbye to some great driving.

Itthi Military Base Viewpoint

Flower Farm

The expansive, spectacular, multi-coloured hillside display of flowers is a tourist magnet. Parking was chaotic.

If you build it, they will come.

: The spectacular display of flowers attracted a great number of visitors. Full carpark.

Phu Lerd Skywalk

The recently opened Skywalk is well worth a visit. It offers magnificent 360° views over the surrounding countryside, including the renowned Wat Phrathat Sonkaew, on the other side of Asian Highway 16/Route 12.

Leave Khao Kho

: Huai Tong Bridge (Phor Khun Pha Muang Bridge) is the tallest bridge in Thailand. It is 50 metres high and 200 metres long.
